As regards the petrochemical sector , Iran is currently the hottest place on Earth ; with dozens of ventures being presently underway in the country’s PETZONE in Bandar Imam and PARSEE in Assalouyeh , in line with official policies to strengthen the National Petrochemical Company ( NPC ) . The strategic policies of NPC shall continue remaining as :

- Self-sufficiency
- Privatization
- Globalization
- Technology Development through R & D
- Further Development of Petrochemical Special
- Economic Zones
- Environment protection
The National petrochemical Company’s mission , however , being along developing the country’s petrochemical industry , to obtain a major share in Iran’s non-oil export revenues , attaining a greater share in the global marketplace and to supply raw material to the downstream industries , will be gearing up to achieve the envisaged total target sales figure of USD 6200 million set for 2005 . This would however, entail a production capacity growth of 38.7 million Tons for 2005 .
The NPC’s Strategic development program , which started in 1997 is deemed to comprise 5 phases , and to fully complete in 2013 , with an investment of USD 20920 million in total . We are presently transitioning through phases 1 & 2 , with a total capital investment of USD 3.8 billion , including a USD 2.2 billion also in hard currency . Phase 3 of the development plan , is slated to fructify in 2004 , needing a capital investment of USD 7 billion , coupled with another USD 4.2 in hard currency .
The prevailing mood within the Petrochemical sector will , yet further , prove NPC’s capabilities in diversification of the Iranian petroleum industry.
